We need your support, my nigga.

Not because this is failing.
Because it is working.

Because what we are building is real. Because every essay, every thought, every story, every perspective we put out into the world is proof that there is a hunger for work that is honest, free, beautiful, and rooted in us.

And the truth is, building something for Black people, by Black people, without compromising the spirit of it, is not easy.

A lot of people love the language of community.
A lot of companies love the optics of culture.
A lot of brands want to stand near Blackness, borrow from it, market with it, and profit from it.

But when it comes time to actually support something that is unapologetically for us, that does not bend, water itself down, or perform respectability to be seen as worthy, the support gets real thin.

That is part of why we are starting a paid subscription.

Because we are tired of waiting for institutions, sponsors, and gatekeepers to validate something we already know is valuable.

We know what this is.
We know what this can become.
And more importantly, we know who it is for.

This is not about locking everything behind a paywall.
This is about building a real foundation.

A foundation that allows us to expand what we offer.
A foundation that lets us pay people.
A foundation that helps us build an ecosystem where Black writers, authors, journalists, artists, and thinkers are not just heard but compensated.

That is the dream.

We do not just want to write here.
We want to build one of the largest and most meaningful platforms for Black voices and Black perspective in the world.

A place where our people can tell the truth in their own language.
A place where nuance can live.
A place where art, criticism, reporting, reflection, humor, beauty, and opinion can all coexist.
A place where Black thought is not treated like a niche, but like the center of the conversation.

That takes resources.
That takes infrastructure.
That takes support.

What a paid subscription will help support

It will help us create more essays, interviews, reflections, and original pieces that go deeper than what the algorithm allows.

It will help us build opportunities for Black writers, authors, journalists, and artists to publish their voices and get paid for it.

It will help us create educational offerings, conversations, live events, and experiences that actually pour back into the community.

It will help us expand this into something bigger than a newsletter, into a living platform.

We want this to become a place that offers real access.

Access to ideas.
Access to people.
Access to learning.
Access to conversation.
Access to tools that help our people grow.

We look to build a membership that actually means something.
A membership that connects you to meaningful experiences, educational resources, special events, thoughtful offerings, and a deeper relationship with the work.

And yes, that will also include things like discounts to the store and benefits connected to the broader E.N.D. world. But even that is bigger than merch. That is about making sure the people who support the vision feel supported too.

Why we are asking directly

Because the truth is: we do not receive the kind of sponsorship support that more “acceptable” platforms do.

And a lot of that is because we are unwavering.

We are unwavering in what we do.
We are unwavering in who we do it for.
We are unwavering in our language.
We are unwavering in our perspective.
We are unwavering in our commitment to telling the truth as we know it.

That comes with a cost.

Sometimes people cannot see the power of an idea if it is spoken in our voice.
Sometimes they cannot recognize brilliance if it is dressed like us.
Sometimes they cannot imagine that changing perspective is as valuable as selling product.

But we know better.

We know that stories change people.
Perspective changes people.
Language changes people.
Art changes people.
And if you can change people, you can change a culture.

That is what we are investing in.

Not content for content’s sake.
Not noise.
Not churn.

We are trying to build something with weight.
Something with soul.
Something that can last.

What paid subscribers can expect

Paid subscribers will help shape the future of this platform and receive deeper access to what we are building.

That includes things like:

  • subscriber-only essays and reflections

  • deeper personal writing and behind-the-scenes thinking

  • early access to select projects and drops

  • discounts to the store

  • access to educational resources, curated conversations, and future events

  • a closer connection to the ideas, art, and people helping shape this world

Over time, we want this to grow into something even richer — a true home for people who believe in the mission and want to help us build it.

Build this with us

This is for the people, by the people.

Always.

We are not trying to build something polished enough to make other people comfortable. We are trying to build something true enough to make our people feel seen.

If you have ever read something here and felt less alone, more challenged, more inspired, more clear, more proud, more open, more honest, then you already understand why this matters.

If you believe Black voices deserve more room, more ownership, more freedom, more access, and more pay then this is for you.

If you believe the future should not have to ask permission to sound like us then this is for you.

So yes, we need your support, my nigga.

Not just to keep going.
To go bigger.
To go deeper.
To build the kind of platform we rarely inherit, but always deserve.

Subscribe and help us build it.
