Let’s talk plainly.
If you’re under 40 and already reaching for dick pills, pause. Not because something’s “wrong” with you, but because your body is probably trying to tell you something you haven’t slowed down enough to hear.
Erections don’t start in your pants.
They start in your brain, your nervous system, your circulation, your stress levels, your sleep, and how safe you feel in your body.
Most of us don’t have a penis problem.
We have a pressure problem.
Performance anxiety.
Chronic stress.
Porn-trained expectations.
Poor sleep.
Low movement.
High cortisol.
No one ever taught us how to regulate ourselves—only how to push through.
So instead of outsourcing your confidence to a pill, let’s talk about building something real.
Step One: It’s start in the Head
Anxiety is one of the biggest erection killers—and nobody talks about it.
If you’re constantly:
Overthinking performance
Distracted during intimacy
Numb unless there’s extreme stimulation
Comparing yourself to porn or past experiences
Your nervous system is stuck in fight-or-flight. Erections need rest-and-receive.
This is where mental health matters.
Black-led resources worth exploring:
Therapy for Black Men – directories of Black male therapists who actually get the cultural weight we carry
Black Men’s Health Alliance – education around stress, wellness, and preventative care
BEAM – tools for nervous system regulation and emotional literacy
Therapy isn’t about being broken.
It’s about clearing the static so your body can do what it already knows how to do.
Step Two: Lifestyle Shif
ts That Actually Help
No miracle fixes. Just fundamentals we keep skipping.
Sleep
7–9 hours. Testosterone is made while you sleep.
If you’re scrolling at 2am, you’re robbing tomorrow’s erection.
Movement
Walking daily increases blood flow and lowers cortisol.
You don’t need a gym. You need consistency.
Food
Less ultra-processed, more whole foods.
Zinc, magnesium, leafy greens, healthy fats.
Hydration matters more than you think.
Porn Reset
Not moral. Neurological.
Too much novelty trains your brain to need extremes.
Try a 30-day reset and notice what comes back online.
Step Three: Strengthen the Bulbocavernosus Muscle (Look that shit up, my nigga)
This muscle supports erections, ejaculation control, and pelvic stability.
How to find it:
The muscle you use to stop urine mid-stream. That’s it.
Exercises (2–3 times a day):
Basic Kegels
Contract for 3 seconds, release for 3
10–15 reps
Long Holds
Contract and hold for 10 seconds
Rest 10 seconds
5 reps
Reverse Kegels (important)
Gently push out like you’re trying to pee
Helps relax an over-tight pelvic floor
Glute Bridges
Activates pelvic and core muscles together
3 sets of 10
This isn’t about clenching all day.
It’s about strength and relaxation working together.
