Love Is More Than Provision
Most parents and caregivers believe we are loving. On either end of the spectrum—whether it is providing food, water, shelter, and clothing, or paying for extracurricular activities, bringing our children to sleepovers, and attending every sports activity—we often assume those actions are enough.
But what would your kids say?
Not now—but on the therapist’s couch in fifteen years, what would they say?
If they go to DreamCon 2040, would they raise their hand and say they felt like a misfit? Would they say their parent(s) traumatized them or supported their dreams? Would they realize that you loved and accepted them—or that you simply tolerated, financed, and watched them?
